Makar Sankranti , January 14 is a Hindu festival celebrated by Hindus all across the country  as the day on which the sun begins to rise in the Makara Rashi ( Capricorn) , Sankranti meaning Entering i.e. movement of the sun from one zodiac sign to another. Thus, the name of the festival literally means the movement of the sun into Capricorn. . Makar Sankranti is Also a Symbol of  end of winter season and the beginning of  spring or basant. The night and day of the 14 january i.e. Makar sankranti are equally long.Makar Sankranti is also called Uttarayan, or the day on which the sun begins its northward journey.

Did  You know ??…. Thousand years ago…Makar Sankranti is used to celebrated on 31 December, But Now Makar Sankranti is celebrated on January 14.
